The Homer-Center Wildcats will square off against the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Homer-Center's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Moshannon Valley has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Homer-Center will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Portage on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Mustangs 41-6. With the Wildcats ahead 35-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Carson Arone had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 138 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 50 yards and one touchdown. He is becoming a predictor of Homer-Center's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Gabe Cobaugh was another key player, rushing for 63 yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Homer-Center was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 188 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Homer-Center, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Codey Bell, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Moshannon Valley played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Berlin Brothersvalley, falling 34-8. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, the Black Knights/Damsels couldn't push the score so high this time.
Homer-Center will have to contain Rocco Reifer as he made an impact in Moshannon Valley's last game. He rushed for 118 yards.
Homer-Center's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Moshannon Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Homer-Center has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 182.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Moshannon Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 172.9 rushing yards.
