The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lee Academy of Science & Engineering in their matchups with Charlotte: they've now lost nine in a row.
It was another big night for Gabby Mata, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds for Charlotte. Mata is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Garcia, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Lee Academy of Science & Engineering bumped their record down to 0-3 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.4 points per game. As for Charlotte, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-15.
Lee Academy of Science & Engineering will be playing in front of their home fans against Stacey at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Stacey is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Charlotte, they will head out on the road to face off against Sabinal at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
