Basketball Recap: Cameron Thomas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Horizon Science Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Harvest Prep, Patriot Prep Academy was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-46 victory over the Horizon Science Academy Hawks . This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Hawks back in December of 2024, they had to take a 54-53 defeat.

Patriot Prep Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. What's more, Thomas also racked up five steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Seward, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Patriot Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Horizon Science Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Michael Shamie, who posted five points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Thierno Diallo, who put up five points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Patriot Prep Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Horizon Science Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-6.

Patriot Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-47 victory against Bishop Rosecrans on the 20th. Horizon Science Academy has also already played their next contest (against Liberty Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
