The Steele Knights will be playing at home against the Judson Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Steele will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
Steele stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard last Thursday. They put the hurt on East Central with a sharp 52-28 victory. Given Steele's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while East Central is ranked 458th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Chad Warner, who threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes. Another player making a difference was Avion Fareaux, who gained 118 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Steele's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Abdon Mata and Jaylan Jones who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Judson blew past San Marcos, posting a 48-16 win on the road.
Judson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Nathaniel Stanley, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and Elijah Favela, who threw for 281 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Davian Watson, who picked up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Steele to 7-1 and Judson to 3-5.
Steele skirted past Judson 38-36 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Judson's Anthony Evans, who picked up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Steele to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
