There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
No Stoppin 'Em
Marist not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Chestatee in every quarter. Everything went Marist's way against Chestatee as it secured a 59 - 7 win. That 52-point margin marks the most Marist has won by all season. The combined 66 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Parkview (2nd in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Norcross (53rd) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Parkview didn't allow a single point to Norcross and won 28 - 0. Parkview found its leader in an underclassman: Cody Brown rushed for 123 yards and one touchdown, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players.
Movin on Up
Creekview will have a better view of things this week after its strong showing last week propelled it 12 spots up the power rankings. That was the biggest rise of the week. It took its game by a score of 24 - 14. Two standouts for it were senior Cade Radam and sophomore Brody Rhodes; the former picked up 101 yards on the ground while the latter tossed the ball for 119 yards and two TDs.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Mill Creek (20th in the power rankings) and North Gwinnett (9th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. North Gwinnett and Mill Creek both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (North Gwinnett with four and Mill Creek with three), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
