They were just one part of a punishing run game: Miller was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 306 rushing yards. They are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Another reason for the win was Miller's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Joseph Valdez, Xavier Reed, and Adrian Quintana, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pacific, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 34-20 win over San Bernardino on Friday. The Pirates pushed the score to 34-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals cut but never quite recovered from.
Pacific's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Miller, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Miller has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 172.5 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Pacific, though, as they've been averaging only 82.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Miller suffered a grim 33-8 defeat to Pacific in their previous meeting on October 2nd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Pirates' Ryan Cooper, who threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns. Now that the Rebels know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
