The South Florence Bruins will head out on the road to challenge the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Florence has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 480 points over their last seven matchups.
Even though Myrtle Beach scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, South Florence still came out on top. South Florence snuck past the Seahawks with a 65-59 victory. Given South Florence's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Seahawks are ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Florence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamarie Brown, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarius Davis, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, North Myrtle Beach didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Red Foxes on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Myrtle Beach.
South Florence's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for North Myrtle Beach, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8.
South Florence didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Chiefs in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 64-58 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Florence since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
