LeRoy has gone 9-1 against El Paso-Gridley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Titans at 4:30 p.m. LeRoy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
LeRoy will bounce into Friday's game after beating Deer Creek-Mackinaw, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers walked away with a 12-8 win over the Chiefs on Wednesday. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Tate Harden looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
On the hitting side, Bo Zeleznik was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kobe Brent, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, El Paso-Gridley lost 15-3 to Richwoods on Thursday. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
El Paso-Gridley also got a good showing from Landon Raymer, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Raymer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, El Paso-Gridley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joah Knapp, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
LeRoy pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for El Paso-Gridley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
El Paso-Gridley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: LeRoy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. It's a different story for El Paso-Gridley, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain LeRoy's hitters?
LeRoy skirted past El Paso-Gridley 8-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
