The Blair Bears will face off against the Omaha North Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Things were looking good for Blair after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Beatrice by a score of 6-4.
Blair got a good showing from Jake Gaskill, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Blair saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brevin Leggott, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another was Nelson Kosch, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Omaha North, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Omaha Central on Tuesday. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Dalton Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Bolouvi, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Chance Kinman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Omaha North is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Blair, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Blair took their victory against Omaha North when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
