Baseball Recap: Drummond Wins Going Away Against Watonga

Drummond won the last time they faced Watonga and things went their way on Thursday too. Drummond put the hurt on Watonga with a sharp 11-5 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jax Hobbs made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Aiden Edwards was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Boston Burford was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Drummond lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Drummond and bumps their season record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Watonga, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Drummond will look to defend their home field on Friday against Medford at 12:00 p.m. As for Watonga, they will host Woodland at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Woodland has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something Watonga will no doubt try to take advantage of.
