The McKinley Trojans had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Saturday against Leetonia by the margin of a single free throw, 39-38. The win was just what McKinley needed coming off of a 70-41 loss in their prior match.
Despite the defeat, Leetonia had strong showings from Dylan Johns, who scored 13 points, and Ashbee Merritt, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
McKinley's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Leetonia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKinley will take on Waterloo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leetonia, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against United at 7:00 p.m.
