Whitehouse has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Marshall Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Whitehouse made easy work of Pine Tree and carried off a 49-23 victory. Given Whitehouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Pine Tree is ranked 575th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Marshall scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They secured a 65-59 W over Mt. Pleasant. Marshall's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
It was another big night for Jakairi Blacknell, who scored 29 points along with three steals. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Helton, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Whitehouse's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Marshall, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Whitehouse strolled past Marshall in their previous matchup back in November by a score of 47-33. Will Whitehouse repeat their success, or does Marshall have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
