Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Oakwood

Oakwood had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Covington on Tuesday. The Comets blew past the Trojans 12-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Comets, who have now won three contests in a row.

Caydence Vermillion made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Vermillion was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Oakwood got a massive performance out of Emberlyn Schull, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Schull has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Je'Lanna Tall also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Oakwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Oakwood's record is now 9-7-1. As for Covington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Oakwood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 14-0 win against Heritage on the 23rd. As for Covington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-5 defeat against Milford on the 24th.
