Anderson is a perfect 3-0 against Gridley since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Anderson will be playing in front of their home fans against Gridley at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Anderson was handed a 24-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Redding Christian, sneaking past 9-8. The Cubs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kolbee Wimmer made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing five bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Caydence Dial was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Isabel Sturges was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5.
Anderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Gridley made easy work of Hamilton on Wednesday and carried off a 13-3 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Anderson, Gridley also got a great game from a two-way player: Kay Pruitt. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Pruitt was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delanie Cloyd, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexis Alcantar, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Gridley pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Anderson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like Gridley struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Anderson took their victory against Gridley when the teams last played back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 14-3. Will Anderson repeat their success, or does Gridley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
