The John Jay Wolves gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They walked away with a 53-44 victory over Brooklyn Tech. This was payback for John Jay, who suffered a 55-53 loss the last time these two teams met.
Brooklyn Tech's loss came despite strong showings from Luke Opalack and Troy Hornbeck. Opalack dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Hornbeck dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. Opalack scored a full 34.1% of Brooklyn Tech's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
John Jay's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Brooklyn Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
John Jay will head out on the road to face off against Westinghouse at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brooklyn Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sunset Park at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
