There's no place like home for The South Fork Bulldogs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top against Port St. Lucie by a score of 36-27 on Friday. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for South Fork's six-point performance the contest before.
South Fork was led to victory by Jannaro Sumpter and Omar Mejia. Sumpter rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, while Mejia gained 151 total yards and four touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was South Fork's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Port St. Lucie's QB won't forget James Henry anytime soon given Henry sacked him five times.
South Fork's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Port St. Lucie, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Fork will face off against Suncoast at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Suncoast comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Port St. Lucie, they will head out on the road to face off against Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
