Volleyball Recap: Midlothian Falls Despite Big Games from Kyleigh Shaw and Sheridan Riles

Midlothian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Amarillo Sandies.

Midlothian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-19.

Despite the defeat, Midlothian had strong showings from Sheridan Riles, who had 26 digs and four assists, and Kyleigh Shaw, who had 22 assists and seven digs. Riles has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played. Sydney Hairston also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Midlothian's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Amarillo, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7.

Midlothian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Timber Creek on the 29th. As for Amarillo, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Coppell on the 29th.
