The Brewer Witches's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a 74-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Skowhegan. The game was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but Brewer couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, Brewer still got an impressive performance from Charlie Brydges, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brydges has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Owen Fullerton, who scored 15 points.
Brewer has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Skowhegan, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brewer will square off against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gardiner is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Witches a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Skowhegan, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Blue presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the River Hawks in Maine (the Cougars are ranked sixth, while the River Hawks are ranked 78th).
