Make it 13 blowout wins for the Eastmark Firebirds this season. They took their match on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 67-14 win over Combs. Given Eastmark's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Combs is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Eastmark to victory were Anna LaFountain and Ella LaFountain. LaFountain scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while LaFountain scored 21 points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Kaitlynn Barnett, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Combs struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Eastmark posted 25 assists.
Eastmark has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Combs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Arizona College Prep the next time they take the court. Eastmark will host Arizona College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Combs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
