After a string of three wins, the Northside L Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 89-66 loss at the hands of Richmond. Northside L was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 59-36.
When it comes to explaining why Northside L lost, one person who can't be blamed is JOEY HEASTON. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. HEASTON continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of LANDON KARNES, who scored 12 points along with seven assists.
Northside L struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Cedric Horton, who scored 29 points for Richmond. The match was Horton's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Mason Carpenter was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Northside L's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Richmond, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.
Northside L and Fountain Central will round out the year against one another at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday at. Fountain Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Northside L is ranked 50th). As for Richmond, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Wayne South Side at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fort Wayne South Side focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday.
