Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lincoln-Way East

Lincoln-Way East extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 24-4 in the process. They came out on top against the Bradley-Bourbonnais Boilermakers by a score of 5-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in April.

As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-12. The defeat was just more heartbreak for they, who fell 3-1 when the teams last met back in April of 2024.

For Bradley-Bourbonnais' part, Lydia Hammond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. Hammond has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avery Moutrey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Lincoln-Way East and Bradley-Bourbonnais should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Griffins (ranked third) will meet Andrew (ranked 35th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lincoln-Way East 2, the Thunderbolts 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Bradley-Bourbonnais will challenge Sandburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (23 vs. 156).
