It was a good run, but the Howard Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 74-67 to Long Reach. Howard has not had much luck with the Lightning recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Junior Nunez was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five steals for Long Reach. Nunez hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Dillon Mckinney was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Howard's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6. As for Long Reach, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Howard will take on the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. River Hill has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,274 points over their last 17 matchups. As for Long Reach, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Centennial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Lightning are ranked 24th).
