Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Bourbon County Colonels, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 42-8 loss at the hands of Russell on Friday. Bourbon County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.
It was another big night for Ethan Pack, who rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes. Parker Mitchell also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Bourbon County's defeat was their third straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 1-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Lloyd Memorial (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for Russell, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Bourbon County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Russell will head out on the road to face off against Lexington Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lexington Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
