Basketball Recap: Berwick Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Gann Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berwick Academy). They strolled past the Gann Academy Red Heifers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 70-55. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 52.2 points per game.

Berwick Academy was led to victory by Noah Daniel and Brandon Ventura. Daniel went 11 of 20 en route to 30 points along with six assists and six boards, while Ventura dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Daniel's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Purington, who almost dropped a double-double on nine boards and nine assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Berwick Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Berwick Academy moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Gann Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berwick Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Austin Prep at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gann Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bancroft at 4:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
