The Wink Wildcats will take on the Presidio Blue Devils in a tournament on Friday. Presidio took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wink, who comes in off a win.
Wink saw some tournament action on Thursday. They blew past Iraan 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Viviana Flores made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Flores was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Wink let Khloe Mendoza and Adelynn Thompson run wild. Mendoza went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Thompson went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Mendoza has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Butterfield, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.
Wink kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Presidio was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Lake View, falling 18-10. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Blue Devils' highest-scoring contest to date.
Presidio got a big performance out of Camila Ortega, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those runs were Ortega's first of the season. Leah Vazquez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Wink and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Presidio, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Presidio's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wink hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .472. It's a different story for Presidio, though, as they've only averaged .214. Will they be able to contain Wink's hitters?
