Baldwin is 1-9 against Wellsville since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Baldwin posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Augusta out 44-42. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Baldwin has scored all year.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Baldwin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cooper Carr, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joey Ziembicki, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Wellsville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with a 77-65 win over Bishop Seabury Academy. Given Wellsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Bishop Seabury Academy is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win makes it two in a row for Baldwin and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Wellsville, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Baldwin came up short against Wellsville in their previous meeting on Wednesday, falling 62-55. Can Baldwin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
