Eagle has gone 8-2 against Timberline recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will host the Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Eagle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Eagle barely beat Centennial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs blew past the Patriots 13-5 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Peyton Bargen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenzie Owens, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emry Woods, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Eagle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Timberline faced Owyhee in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolves wound up with the same score they had in their last game (1-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Timberline's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-2. As for Eagle, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Eagle has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Timberline struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagle took their victory against Timberline in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
