The Cactus Cobras waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 72-70 win over Deer Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bradey Henige continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 19 rebounds. Henige is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Hutton, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Cactus pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Deer Valley, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-3.
Cactus will head out on the road to square off against Agua Fria at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Agua Fria has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Deer Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Goldwater at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Goldwater is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
