Hope Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Socorro Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two weeks ago, Hope Christian earned a 35-28 victory over Ruidoso.
Hope Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was RJ Montoya out in front who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Breylon Williams also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Socorro got themselves on the board against Hot Springs on Friday, but Hot Springs never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 55-0 on the road. Considering Socorro has won three matchups by more than 49 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Isaiah Ocampo, who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Chase Boykin, who rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries.
Hope Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Socorro, their victory was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-2.
Hope Christian came up short against Socorro when the teams last played back in September, falling 29-21. Can Hope Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
