The Hough Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 42 points or more this season. They breezed by West Mecklenburg on the road to the tune of 66-13. Given Hough's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while West Mecklenburg is ranked 491st), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hough found their leader in underclassman Olivia Puskarich, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Otto, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Hough and bumps their season record up to 7-2. As for West Mecklenburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hough will face off against Cuthbertson at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Cuthbertson is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. West Mecklenburg will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
