Even though the Nicholas County Grizzlies scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, the WestSide Renegades still came out on top. WestSide put the hurt on Nicholas County with a sharp 79-59 win. This was payback for WestSide, who suffered a 68-62 loss the last time these two teams met.
WestSide's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kadien Vance, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Coltin Lester, who scored 19 points.
When it comes to explaining why Nicholas County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trey Stump. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points. The matchup was Stump's third in a row with at least ten points. Ethan Collins was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
WestSide's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Nicholas County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
WestSide will head out on the road to face off against Tug Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nicholas County will be home for the holidays to greet Independence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence and Nicholas County are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
