Aquinas extended the longest winning streak in A Region 7 this week by beating Hancock Central, 31-6. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Fightin' Irish.
Aquinas made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,133 from 1,803. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 31-6 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
Grey Klosinski and Brendan Douglas gave Matt LeZotte's team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Klosinski threw for 63 yards and one touchdown, while Douglas ran for 142 yards. Ruben Garnett also contributed to the rushing game with 81 yards on the ground.
Will Black was the best wideout in the league this week as First Presbyterian Day topped Georgia Military College. Black racked up five receptions for 58 yards. Alec Martin helped First Presbyterian Day's passing attack out by catching five balls for 43 yards.
Brooks Stroud provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Vikings defeated the Bulldogs. He completed 15 passes for 170 yards and also ran for 107 yards.
First Presbyterian Day's Stroud and Scott McCormick have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Stroud has thrown for 679 yards this season, while McCormick, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 15 catches for 373 yards. Douglas from the Fightin' Irish leads the league in rushing with 798 yards.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Aquinas takes on Lincoln County. The Fightin' Irish have allowed 48 points this season, while the Red Devils have given up 75. Aquinas allowed 6 points last week as it topped Hancock Central.
