Baseball Recap: Legion Collegiate Academy Extends Winning Streak to Four

Legion Collegiate Academy barely beat Buford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 12-2 victory on Friday. Considering the Lancers have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Briggs Lee and Charlie Bailey dominated on the mound. Lee tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Bailey tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Lee a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, DJ Douglas was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Will Bartnikowski also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Legion Collegiate Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Legion Collegiate Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Buford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season.

Legion Collegiate Academy will challenge North Brunswick on Monday. The Lancers are facing the Scorpions at the right time seeing as the Scorpions are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Buford, they will face off against Archbishop Spalding at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
