The Granite Hills Cougars will take on the Silverado Hawks at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Granite Hills lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Barstow, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Aztecs on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Kathryn (Kat) McCartney spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.

At the plate, Mylie Shepard was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKinzie Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Silverado). They blew past Victor Valley 27-6 on Friday. The Hawks have beaten the Jackrabbits the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Jackrabbits has come to flipping the script.
Aryhana Shyne was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Valerie Beltran, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-5.
Silverado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Granite Hills' victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Silverado, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Granite Hills might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Silverado in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
