The Science Hill Hilltoppers had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.2 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Unicoi County 69-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Unicoi County still got an impressive performance from Jackson Simmons, who scored 34 points. Simmons continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kolby Jones was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Science Hill is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Unicoi County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-9.
Science Hill will head out on the road to square off against the Fighting Cyclones at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Elizabethton has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6. As for Unicoi County, they will be playing at home against the Patriots at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
