After a string of 15 wins, Tampa Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tampa Catholic Crusaders. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (63), the Terrapins still had to take the loss.
Tampa Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being J'London Bivens, who went 10 for 14 on his way to 27 points along with eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Bivens a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Fuller, who went 8 of 18 en route to 23 points and five assists.
Even though they lost, Tampa Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tampa Catholic only racked up eight assists.
Colby Cannizzaro was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 20 on his way to 25 points for Tampa Catholic. K.J. Morgan was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Tampa Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 20-2. As for Tampa Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
