Softball Recap: St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against St. Genevieve last Tuesday, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy came back down to earth. The St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors came up short against the La Salle Lancers on Thursday, falling 24-4.

Leah Estrada and Jeanette Sepulveda did some serious damage despite the final result: Estrada went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Sepulveda scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Sepulveda is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive games.

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1-1 and their overall record down to 4-4-1. As for La Salle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Coming up, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy will square off against Pomona Catholic at 3:15 p.m. on March 27th. As for La Salle, they will challenge St. Mary's Academy on Tuesday.
