The Deer Trail Eagles lost against the Briggsdale Falcons back in September of 2014, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Deer Trail had to suffer through a rough 62-13 loss at the hands of Briggsdale. Deer Trail has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Deer Trail lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mo Hussein. Despite the final result, he rushed for 152 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 63 receiving yards.
Briggsdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tanner Fiscus led the charge by rushing for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Kaeden Gebauer and his 83 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Briggsdale's win.
Briggsdale's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Gebauer and Cash Haun who racked up four sacks between them.
Deer Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Briggsdale, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Deer Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Briggsdale will square off against Walsh at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Walsh is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
