Bruce (Miss.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 48-6 win over Okolona (Miss.).
The Trojans put up 13 points in the opening frame. Bruce scored on a
Zay Armstrong touchdown run and a defensive touchdown.
BHS was up 28-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Armstrong touchdown run in the first quarter.
The Trojans expanded their lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. Bruce scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Armstrong.
BHS's most effective player was
Davis Brown. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The Chieftains' lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Trojans went into the matchup giving up only 9.8 points per game. The six points that Okolona ended with were well below its average of 19.9 coming into the game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 44-8 win for Bruce.
With the win BHS extended its winning streak to four games.
Bruce (8-2) goes up against Calhoun City in a 2A Region 1 game matchup next week, while Okolona (3-7) locks horns with Walnut also in a 2A Region 1 game.
