Basketball Recap: North Salinas Falls Despite Big Games from Andre Lizaola and Trevon Kubulan

North Salinas entered their contest against St. Francis on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The North Salinas Vikings fell to the St. Francis Sharks 68-64. Even though they lost, the Vikings' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Trevon Kubulan and Andre Lizaola certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Kubulan went 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds, while Lizaola went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points and three blocks. That's the most points Lizaola has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua DeGroot, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

North Salinas is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for St. Francis, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

North Salinas will head out to face off against Pacific Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Salinas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season. As for St. Francis, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Soledad at 2:00 p.m. Soledad will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something St. Francis surely won't give up without a fight.
