The Shelby Valley Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Phelps Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 83-48, which was the final score in Shelby Valley's tilt against Pikeville on Monday. While losing is never fun, Shelby Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Pikeville is ranked fourth).
Meanwhile, Phelps was beaten by Belfry 67-35 on Thursday.
Shelby Valley's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Phelps, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season.
Shelby Valley couldn't quite finish off Phelps in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 and fell 54-51. Can Shelby Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
