Immaculate is 7-1 against Stratford since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 4:15 p.m. Immaculate is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Immaculate is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Brookfield on Wednesday. They lost 12-2 to the Bobcats.
Immaculate saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Costa, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Stratford got the win against Kolbe-Cathedral on Wednesday by a conclusive 13-1. Considering the Red Devils have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Stratford also got a great performance from Morgan Letizia as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Ashlyn Tracy was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Riley Dicks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
Stratford lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Stratford has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Immaculate, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Immaculate hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Stratford struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Immaculate was able to grind out a solid win over Stratford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 7-4. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
