The Windermere Prep Lakers will square off against the East River Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Windermere Prep will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Windermere Prep came out on top against Leesburg on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Lakers took their matchup against the Yellow Jackets 8-3.
Carsha Campbell and Vanessa Nawracaj made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Campbell didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Nawracaj tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Campbell has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Campbell went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Nawracaj went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Kylie Konstand and Cierra Walker did most of the damage at the plate: Konstand went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Walker went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Ella Goldberg was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Windermere Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, while East River put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Osceola. The Falcons walked away with a 4-0 win over the Kowboys.
Not much got past Katherine Sanchez, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Osceola off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tru Mastro, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Gaby Angueira, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
East River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Windermere Prep, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
Windermere Prep's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's match. The Lakers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for East River, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Windermere Prep continue to outrun the ball?
