The Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Duplin Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Wallace-Rose Hill was the victim of a rough 57-35 defeat at the hands of Kinston. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wallace-Rose Hill in their matchups with Kinston: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, East Duplin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 79-56 walloping at the hands of South Lenoir. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, East Duplin got a solid performance out of Calvin Harper, who scored 30 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harper has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jacorey Davis, who scored four points.
Even though they lost, East Duplin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. This was only their 13th loss (out of 15 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Wallace-Rose Hill's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for East Duplin, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season.
Wallace-Rose Hill strolled past East Duplin in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 59-44. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Harper, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
