Jordan is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Long Beach Poly is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Jordan Panthers will take on the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Jordan blew past Cabrillo, posting a 47-7 win on the road. Given Jordan's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Cabrillo is ranked 861st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordan's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jordan Washington, who gained 184 total yards and three touchdowns, and Jarret Nielsen, who threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Nielsen hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovin Randolph, who picked up 133 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Long Beach Poly beat Compton on Friday by the very same score they won with last week: 50-6.
Darius Curry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 164 yards and five touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Curry hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jordan Malauulu, who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Jordan to 7-2 and Long Beach Poly to 8-1.
Jordan was dealt a bruising 63-0 loss at the hands of Long Beach Poly in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Jordan have more luck at home instead of on the road?
