On Friday, Chipley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-43 win over Abbeville. The win was all the more spectacular given Chipley's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 251st in Florida, while Abbeville is ranked 95th in Alabama).
Marlee Sullivan was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Chipley's points. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Staten , who scored eight points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Chipley and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Abbeville, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2.
Chipley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Dothan at 7:30 p.m. on December 23rd. Abbeville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Long at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Long is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
