Century recap Sept. 26, 2012
Villa Park's Mike Holmes rumbled for the longest rushing play in Century this season in his game against El Modena last week. Holmes scampered for 73 yards on the play and finished with 103 on the day as his team defeated the Vanguards.
Brea Olinda was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in the league.
Dylan Osborne threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns. He went 10-10 with zero interceptions.
Chris Prescott was the best wideout in the league this week as Canyon fell to El Dorado. Prescott racked up nine receptions for 168 yards. Zach Morris helped Canyon's passing attack out by catching four balls for 71 yards.
Corey Elsasser provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Comanches lost to the Golden Hawks. He completed 19 passes for 291 yards and also ran for six yards.
Foothill's Jack Gilchrist and Julian Moss have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Century in both passing and receiving yards. Gilchrist has thrown for 855 yards this season, while Moss, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 15 catches for 308 yards. Canyon's Troy Kurtz leads the league in rushing yards with 685.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Knights take on El Modena. Foothill's offense has racked up 181 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Vanguards have allowed only 152 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when El Modena takes on Doug Case's team. At the moment, the Vanguards are in fifth, while the Knights are in second.
Brent Mckee's team moved up to 439 from 547 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Comanches were able to make the jump by beating the Comanches 29-22.
