Federal Way has gone 7-2 against Kentlake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Federal Way will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
While Federal Way didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Auburn Mountainview 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 9, 2024.
Orlando Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Thoma Holden, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Kentlake was able to grind out a solid win over Jefferson on Tuesday, taking the game 11-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Kentlake also got a great performance from Matthew Ledbetter as he tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits.
At the plate, Noah Adams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Kentlake's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-4-1 when he doesn't). Lincoln Moore was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Federal Way pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Kentlake, the victory got them back to even at 5-5-1.
Kentlake's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Federal Way has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. It's a different story for Kentlake, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Federal Way's hitters?
Federal Way beat Kentlake 5-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
