The Pineville Mountain Lions pushed their score all the way to 68 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 85-68 bruising from Clay County. Pineville lost against Clay County in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 66-60 score last time.
Clay County was led to victory by Jerrod Roark and Elijah Bundy. Roark scored 25 points, while Bundy dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Landon Dezarn was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Pineville's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Clay County, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Pineville will be playing in front of their home fans against Cumberland Gap at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cumberland Gap knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Pineville likes a good challenge. As for Clay County, they will head out on the road to face off against Bell County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
