St. Joseph Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addy Mira, who had 18 digs. Mira has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Suzi Valbuena, who had 17 assists and five digs.
St. Joseph Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last five contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Palatka, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hawthorne on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Panthers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 21st (when they won 3-0).
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Palatka took every set by at least 18 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-7, 25-6.
St. Joseph Academy's record is now 12-5. As for Palatka, their record now sits at 9-10.
St. Joseph Academy beat Palatka 3-1 in their previous matchup on September 8th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flashes since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
